Rain likely over country as depression intensifying into cyclonic storm "Dana"

DHAKA, Oct 23, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department today predicted rain accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over the country for the next 24 hours beginning from 9am today as the depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a deep depression then into a cyclonic storm "Dana".

"Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country", said the forecast.

Meanwhile, the depression over the East central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman sea moved west-northwestwards and intensified into a deep depression then into a cyclonic storm "Dana" over East central Bay of Bengal and adjoining area.

It is likely to move west-northwesterly direction and intensify further.
The country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 36.0 degree celsius at Feni and minimum temperature today was recorded 20.4 degree celsius at Tetulia. Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 23 millimeters (mm) at Sitakunda.

Day temperature may fall by (1-3)oC and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
