KHULNA, Oct 23, 2024 (BSS)- As the cyclone 'Dana' is approaching towards coastal areas of the country, the local administration has kept ready 604 shelter centres to accommodate evacuated people for safety.

The information was revealed in an emergency meeting of Khulna District Disaster Management Committee today afternoon with Khulna Deputy Commissioner in the chair.

With the influence of Cyclone ‘Dana’ rain has begun this morning and cloudy weather is prevailing in all coastal upazilas.

Met office said, rain and gusty weather will prevail in Barisal and Chattogram Division and some parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensing and Sylhet division.

Water Development Board (WDB) has been requested for taking preventive measures across 10 to 12 kilometers risky embankments in different upazilas of the district.

Senior officials of the concerned departments were present.
