DHAKA, Oct 27, 2024 (BSS) - One more Juba League leader was arrested on Saturday night from the city's Pallabi area in connection with killing Emon in an attack on the anti-discrimination student movement.

The arrestee is Md Zakir Hossain, 32, joint general secretary of 2 no ward Jubo League under Pallabi Police Station.

Zakir was arrested in a joint raid in Pallabi Thana area at 9:30pm on Saturday, a police press release said.

He was an accused in the Emon Hossain Akash murder case with Pallabi Police Station.

According to the case details, leaders and activists of the Awami League and it associate bodies attacked a peaceful demonstration in front of Popular Diagnostic Centre at old Mirpur-10 by firing gunshots and hurling crude bombs on August 4, in which Emon received critical bullet injuries.
 
Emon was rushed to nearby Azmal Hospital where the on-duty physicians pronounced him dead.

His mother Baby filed a murder case to this end on August 27 last.

The police earlier arrested Pallabi Thana Jubo League law affairs secretary Shaikh Mohammad Wasim, 3 no ward Jubo League leader, Mohammad Deen Islam, 2 no ward AL joint general secretary Md Akbar Hossain Jony, 5 no ward Jubo League leader Ashikul Islam Shanto, and 5 no ward Jubo League leader Md Mintu in the Emon murder case, the press release said.
