Saudi Arabia keen to recruit skilled Bangladeshi workforce

Dhaka, Oct 22, 2024 (BSS) - Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh, Essa Youssef Essa
Al Duhailan, today expressed the Kingdom's interest in recruiting a larger
number of skilled and trained Bangladeshi workers to support its ambitious
Vision 2030 projects, including the "Green Saudi Initiative."

During a meeting with Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin at the foreign
ministry, the envoy acknowledged the significant contributions of Bangladeshi
expatriates in Saudi Arabia, commending their dedication and work ethic.

He highlighted that the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka is actively processing a
substantial number of visas daily, further adding to the existing 3 million-
strong Bangladeshi workforce in the Kingdom.

Both officials emphasized the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement
between the two nations.

They underscored the role of high-level dialogues, including political
consultations and the Joint Economic Commission (JEC), as well as the Joint
Technical Committee (JTC) on Manpower, in fostering cooperation and
addressing mutual interests.

The Saudi Ambassador also briefed the Foreign Secretary on key Saudi
initiatives, including the establishment of Iconic Mosques and an Arabic
Language Institute in Dhaka.

He sought Bangladesh's assistance in expediting these projects.

In addition, he shared updates on ongoing Saudi investments in Bangladesh's
port logistics, renewable energy, and power sectors.

The Foreign Secretary assured the Ambassador of Bangladesh's commitment to
resolving any outstanding issues and encouraged the exploration of new
avenues for Saudi investment.

He pledged full support for addressing any barriers that could hinder further
investment from Saudi Arabia.

The Foreign Secretary expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia's efforts in
promoting regional peace and stability, particularly its leadership role
within the Islamic community.

He reaffirmed Bangladesh's unwavering support for Saudi Arabia's initiatives
aimed at fostering regional harmony.


Furthermore, Secretary Jashim reiterated Bangladesh's solidarity with the
Palestinian cause, urging for swift action toward a Two-State solution.

Ambassador Duhailan extended his congratulations to Foreign Secretary Jashim
on assuming his role, while the Foreign Secretary briefed him on Bangladesh's
recent initiatives, reforms, and developments under the Interim Government.

The envoy also expressed gratitude for Bangladesh's continued support for
Saudi Arabia in international platforms, including the Kingdom's bid for the
2034 FIFA World Cup and activities within the Indian Ocean Rim Association
(IORA), highlighting the longstanding bonds of fraternity between the two
nations.
