DHAKA, Oct 27, 2024 (BSS) - European Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller today paid a courtesy call on Labour and Employment as well as Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain at the latter's office here.
During the meeting, they discussed various aspects, including child labour, labour laws, creation of worker-friendly environment in the garment sector, ensuring workers' safety, GSP and GSP+ benefits, and economic as well as political relations between the European Union and Bangladesh, said a press release.
In response to the ambassador's inquiry about the formation of political parties by students, Asif said, "It is not the time for forming political parties; rather, it is time for collective efforts and unity among all."
About reform commissions, he said 10 reform commissions have already been formed following people's expectations.
"These commissions have started their works, and it is expected that they (commissions) will provide specific recommendations for nation-building soon," he said.
The adviser said the country will move towards holding fair elections following these reforms.
Regarding the Youth and Sports Ministry's initiatives, the adviser said training programmes have been conducted at the grassroots level to enhance the skills of youths.
