DHAKA, Oct 29, 2024 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested four members of a gang and recovered different types of fake stamps worth about Taka 15 crore raiding in different areas in the capital today.
"The members of Web-based Crime Investigation Team of DB-Cyber and Special Crime Division in separate drive in the last 24 hours in city and its surrounding areas arrested four persons of a syndicate involved in manufacturing fake revenue stamps, non-judicial stamps and court fee stamps," said a DMP press release this evening.
The arrestees were identified as Hajera Begum (55), Md Jahangir Alam Jibon (31), Md Masud Rana (25) and Md Alim Sheikh (25).
"A total of 33,75,500 fake revenue stamps, non-judicial stamps and court fees worth Taka 14 crore 76 lakh and Taka 1.46 lakh in cash were recovered from their possessions," the DB said.
Besides, the police seized two printing presses, 20 printing dices used for making fake stamps, a laptop, an iron machine, a sewing machine, three mobile phone sets of different brands and 25 glue tubes during the drive.
Legal action is underway in this connection.
