Fakhrul recalls contributions of former secretary Sabih Uddin Ahmed

DHAKA, Oct 30, 2024 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today recalled the contribution of BNP Chairperson's advisory council member and former secretary Sabih Uddin Ahmed marking Sabih's second death anniversary.

In a statement, Fakhrul paid rich tribute to the memories of Sabih Uddin and said, "Politeness, honesty, discipline and harmony in thought, word, and deeds have been the remarkable characteristics of late Sabih Uddin Ahmed."

In his professional life, Sabih Ahmed was able to keep his integrity and dignity intact while holding the highest position in the government, Fakhrul said, adding, "In political life too, he showed utmost commitment to the ideals of the party."

The glorious contribution of Sabih Uddin Ahmed to the countryman and the party will always be remembered with respect, Fakhrul said.

On September 31, 2022 Sabih Uddin Ahmed died at the age of 76 while undergoing treatment at a hospital after suffering a brain stroke.

Sabih Uddin served as the private secretary to then prime minister Khaleda Zia in 1991.

Later he returned to the information cadre.

In 2001, Sabih Uddin Ahmed joined the environment ministry as secretary. Later, he was appointed as Bangladesh's high commissioner to the UK.
After retiring as a secretary, Sabih Uddin actively joined BNP politics and was appointed a foreign affairs advisor to the party chairperson.
