Army conducts 136 operations in industrial areas, arrests 335

DHAKA, Oct 31, 2024 (BSS) – Industrial Security Taskforce of Bangladesh Army conducted a total of 136 operations and arrested 335 people on charge of their involvement in vandalism in the country’s industrial areas.

The taskforce launched the operations on August 9 this year to ensure stability in the industrial areas, said an ISPR press release.

The army conducted 97 operations in Savar-Ashulia area, 33 in Gazipur and 6 in Narayanganj while 335 individuals were arrested and handed them over to police for their involvement in vandalism in industrial areas.  

The Industrial Security Taskforce removed 123 roadblocks created in the industrial areas by a group of people in realization of their various demands.  The taskforce saved 56 factories from possible arson attacks or vandalism attempts through holding 723 successful negotiation meetings, it added.      

Besides, the army made arrangements for paying the due salary of factory workers and held separate discussions with owners, workers and businessmen along with coordinating the policy makers of trade organizations.

Various campaigns were also organized in order to increase awareness among the workers, added the release.

Earlier on October 20, Special Assistant to the interim government’s Chief Adviser (CA) Lieutenant General Abdul Hafiz (retd) and special envoy on international affairs to Chief Adviser Lutfe Siddiqui visited the activities of the industrial security taskforce and manufacturing operations in different industries at Savar.   

Bangladesh Army will continue its all out efforts with an aim to keep the wheels of country’s economy moving through ensuring the national production uninterrupted.
