JHENAIDAH, Nov 02, 2024 (BSS) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said here today the people of the country would never forgive the fallen fascist Sheikh Hasina for committing genocide to stop the mass uprising.
“We’ve to do politics to build new Bangladesh keeping in mind the memory of misrule of the fallen fascist Sheikh Hasina and Awami League. Sheikh Hasina carried out genocide to stop the students-people movement. So, the people of the country would not pardon her,” he said.
He was addressing a memorial meeting as chief guest organized by Jhenaidah district BNP marking the second death anniversary of advisory council member of BNP Chairperson and veteran freedom fighter and Jhenaidah-2 constituency lawmaker Moshiur Rahman on Jhenaidah Press Club premises.
The senior BNP leader said the politics of misrule would not exist in the future as the people of the country are now united against any kind of misrule.
“The people of the country would bring BNP in power under the leadership of their leader Tarique Rahman,” he said.
Dudu called upon the leaders and activists of BNP to help the interim government in creating congenial atmosphere for holding a free, fair and neutral election.
Jhenaidah district unit BNP President Advocate MA Majid presided over the meeting while general secretary Zahiduzzaman Mona conducted it.
BNP central committee assistant organising secretary Babu Joyonto Kumar Kundu, district BNP vice-president Munshi Kamal Azad Pannu and senior joint general secretary Abdul Majid Biswas, among others, spoke on the occasion.
udu came down heavily on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for suppressing his political opponents through killings, saying, “Sheikh Mujib killed her political opponents indiscriminately from 1972 to 1975. Rakhhi Bahini had killed at least 40,000 people. Sheikh Hasina also dreamt of hanging onto power forever by killing people like her father.”
Sheikh Hasina in her 16 years of rule had killed and her administration was responsible for enforced disappearances of several thousand political leaders and activists, he said.
Recalling the sacrifice of the students-people, he said, “Sheikh Hasina had never thought that she might have been ousted.”
Sheikh Hasina and her cohorts have built ‘Begum Para’ abroad by looting lakhs of public money, he added.
The senior BNP leader said, “Begum Khaleda Zia had earlier said Sheikh Hasina would flee the country one day after destroying the country. Finally, Hasina fled the country like a thief.”
Describing Moshiur Rahman as the founder of modern Jhenaidah, Dudu said that he was a good leader and pioneer of the development of Jhenaidah district.
The BNP leader called upon his party leaders and activists to stay united, saying, “All will have to work in unison if you want Tarique Rahman’s victory in the next election. We have to help the present interim government.”
