SAVAR, Nov 3, 2024 (BSS) – Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain said here today that the allegation of persecuting the members of Hindu, Bouddha and Christian communities made by Republican presidential in the US election Donald Trump was a part of his election campaign.
“Allegations made by Donald Trump on persecuting the Hindu, Bouddha and Christian community people were a part of his election campaign. Donald Trump made such allegations mainly to get vote and we don’t agree with him,” he said while taking to journalists after inaugurating the two-day “Sunnah Conference Bangladesh 2024.”
Daffodil Centre of the Daffodil University has organized the conference at Birulia in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital city.
The religious affairs adviser said the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the USA would not deteriorate no matter who wins the US presidential polls.
“Misunderstandings between the two countries would be resolved through discussions. Donald Trump was in power earlier and the relations between Bangladesh and the USA is very old” he said.
The members of the Hindu community are now very well in Bangladesh and they have recently celebrated their largest festival, the Durga Puja, safely as the government took every possible measures in this regard.
“There is no bar on exercising their religious rituals. They (Hindu community) have placed some demands before the government, which are now under consideration at the high level of the government,” he said.
Palestinian Ambassador to Bangladesh Yousef S Y Ramadan, Kushtia University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah, Islami Arabic University VC Prof Dr Mohammad Shamsul Alam and Daffodil University VC Prof Dr M Lutfor Rahman, among others, were present.
