SAVAR, Nov 3, 2024 (BSS)- Jahangirnagar University (JU) chapter of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir today proposed 41-points demand for widespread reformation of the campus.
The demnads were made at a press conference held today at the Teacher-Student Centre of the university.
JU unit Shibir President Harunur Rashid Rafi and Secretary Muhibur Rahman Muhib jointly addressed the press conference when Publicity Secretary Abdullah Al Mamun Saki moderated it.
At the beginning of the press conference, they paid tribute to all the martyrs, crippled and injured students and masses of the July Revolution.
They demanded a safe campus for female students, strict action against drug trade and abuse, addressing cases of dormitory occupation, student harassment and violence, and ensuring justice in murder and other criminal cases.
“We demand to ensure an accessible campus for students with disabilities, high-speed internet facilities, adequate infrastructure for each department, activation of Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union, dormitory and departmental student council elections,” said Shibir President.
They proposed various measures, including scholarships, financial aid, educational loans, academic master plans, examination schedule reform, paid research and teaching assistant positions, research budget allocation, comprehensive medical facilities, a creative cultural environment, infrastructural development and environmental preservation.
