DHAKA, Oct 11, 2021 (BSS) - Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque has 
said the onion price would be brought under control within next 20 days. 

   "When the summer onions and imported ones will come to local markets, its 
price will decline and will be under control," he said while talking to 
reporters at a research review workshop at Bangladesh Agricultural Research 
Institute (BARI) here on Sunday.

   The agriculture minister said as the onion is a perishable commodity, its 
price sours up after its season for lack of storage.  

   State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell, Agriculture 
Senior Secretary Md Mesbahul Islam, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council 
(BARC) Executive Chairman Dr SM Bokhtiar, former BARC Executive Chairman Dr 
Jahurul Kabir, agriculture scientist Kazi M Badrudoja, and BARI directors Dr 
Md Tariqul Islam and Dr Md Kamrul Hasan, among others, spoke at the meeting 
with BARI Director General Dr Md Nazirul Islam in the chair.
