'Shishu Bokta' Rafikul exempted from 4 DSI cases

DHAKA, Nov 6, 2024 (BSS) - A special court here today exempted Rafiqul Islam Madani, popularly known as 'Shishu Bokta' for his short stature, from the charges of four cases filed under Digital Security Act (DSA).

Judge Nur-e Alam of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal passed the order, accepting a plea for the Islamic orator.

"The four cases were filed with Tejgaon, Motijheel, Paltan and Gacha Police Station of Gazipur. The witnesses could not tell anything against Rafiqul, saying they do not know anything about the charges. The court after scrutinizing all the facts and documents, relieved him from the charges in those four cases," public prosecutor Md Rafikul Islam said.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on April 8, 2021, arrested Rafiqul from his house in Netrokona and filed a case under Digital Security Act with Gacha Police Station. Later three more DSI cases were filed against him.
