BGB brings back 20 Bangladeshi fishermen from Arakan Army

DHAKA, Nov 7, 2024 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has brought back 20 Bangladeshi fishermen from the clutches of the Arakan Army, an armed separatist organization of Myanmar. 
 
"Arakan Army handed the detained 20 fishermen of Bangladesh over to BGB personnel at Shahparir Dwip Trawler Ghat at 4pm today," said a BGB press release.

The Arakan Army held the fishermen on November 5 last as they had trespassed into Myanmar territory at Nikhangdia after crossing the 'zero line' by 17 boats including two engine ones, it also said.

The detainees were brought back to Bangladesh through effective communication with the Arakan Army.

The fishermen are - Shah Alam, 28, son of Ali Ahmed of Shahparir Deep, Asmat Ullah, 18, son of Shafiullah, Abdus Shukur, 32, son of Nurul Alam, Abul Hossain, 45, son of late Noju Mia, Ayub Khan, 48, son of later najir Hossain, Nur Hossain, 45, son of late Yusuf, Md Belal, 29, son of late Bashir Ahmed, Solim, 35, son of late Nur Amin, Abdul Kader, 25, son of late Zakaria, Md Hashim,35, son of late Sultan Ahmed, Md Hossain, 28, son of Md Alam, Mohiuddin, 26, son of Ilias, Enayet Ullah,30, son of Md Yunus, Nur Hafez, 40, son of late Md Yunus, Md Yasin, 35, son of late Moson Ali, Osman Goni,30, son of Abdus Shukkur, Ennamin, 27, son of Nasir Uddin of Moheshkhali Upazila and Abdus Shukkur, 46, son of Shasan Sharif of Ukhiya Upazila.

The BGB are now handing the fishermen over to their relatives.
