RANGPUR, Nov 7, 2024 (BSS) - BNP central organizing secretary (Rangpur
division) Principal Asadul Habib Dulu Tariq Rahman has said the party's
Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has given 31 points for changing the state
structure.
"It is not possible to run the country without a government elected by the
people and therefore we demand the interim government to announce a roadmap
for elections," he said this afternoon.
Dulu, a former state minister, said this while addressing a rally organised
by the district and city units of BNP in front of its district office at
Grand Hotel Mour here marking the National Revolution and Solidarity Day as
the chief guest.
Rangpur city BNP convener Samsuzzaman Samu presided over the rally.
Dulu said, in the last fifteen and a half years, the country's judicial
department, legal department and administration had been party-led in an
unprecedented manner during the Awami fascist regime of ousted prime minister
Sheikh Hasina.
"Autocrat ruler Sheikh Hasina kept our leader Begum Khaleda Zia in jail for
six years for no reason. Our beloved leader Tariq Rahman has migrated. We had
risked our lives for 16 years and had been protesting on the streets," he
said.
Dulu said, "After that, the fascist Hasina government fell in a popular
uprising by the students-people. The collapse of Awami League has been
extreme as the students-people and BNP leaders and activists joined in the
uprising for the second independence."
BNP Rangpur divisional Co-organizing Secretary Abdul Khaleque, district BNP
convener Md Saiful Islam, its member-secretary Anisur Rahman Laku, city BNP
member-secretary Advocate Mahfuz-un-Nabi Don, BNP leaders Emdadul Haque
Bharsha and Aminul Islam Ranga, district Jubo Dal President Nazmul Alam Nazu,
member-secretary of city Jubo Dal Atikul Islam Lelin, President of city
Krishak Dal Shahnewaz Labu, convener of district Chhatra Dal Sharif Newaz
Joha, member-secretary of city Swechchasebak Dal Noor Hasan Suman were
present in the rally.
Later, the district, city and upazila units of BNP and its associate
organisations brought out dozens of colorful rallies in the streets and
organised gatherings with participation of thousands of leaders and
activists.
The rallies passed through Salek Pump, Press Club Mour, Jahaz Company Mour,
Paira Chattar, City Bazar, Kachari Bazar and ended at DC Mour where leaders
of BNP and its associate bodies addressed the gathering there.
After the mass uprising of the students-people, BNP organised massive
programs marking the National Revolution and Solidarity Day and with
participation of thousands of its leaders and activists in the city today.
From the rallies, BNP leaders and activists raised slogans demanding arrest
and punishment of the Awami League leaders and activists involved in the
genocide in the July revolution along with the announcement of the roadmap
for the early elections.
On the occasion of the celebration of the day, a mesmerizing cultural program
was organized in the city's Central Shaheed Minar premises tonight.
