DHAKA, Nov 08, 2024 (BSS) - Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan today said the government is committed to ensuring an environment conducive to responsible journalism in the country.
“Fearless and impartial journalism is crucial in protecting democracy and the environment,” she said adding a Media Commission has been formed to enable journalists to work objectively, ensuring public benefit.
Rizwana made the remarks while speaking at the ‘Desh TV-DRU Best Reporting Award 2024’ ceremony at Dhaka Club here this evening.
She said that journalists must bring national news from across the country, with in-depth coverage on environmental issues and matters of public interest. Truthfulness and accountability in journalism are powerful elements for social change, she added.
In this connection, she said bold and unbiased reporting is instrumental in steering the nation towards the right direction.
Advisor for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Prof Asif Nazrul was present at the function as the Chief Guest with DRU President Shukur Ali Shuvo in the chair.
DRU General Secretary Mohiuddin conducted the function.
Later, the names of winners of the Desh TV-DRU Best Reporting Award-2024 award from print, online, television, and radio categories were announced.
