DHAKA, Nov 9, 2024 (BSS) - Director (Administration and Common Service) of
Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) Dr Md Abdul Latif today received
Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) Gold Medal (BAS-National Professor Dr M
Innas Ali Memorial Gold Medal Award 2021) for his outstanding achievement and
valuable contribution to the field of biological sciences.
A Gold Medal Award Ceremony was organized at the National Science and
Technology Complex in city's Agargaon area with President of BAS Emeritus
Professor Dr A K Azad Chowdhury in the chair, a press release said.
Dr M Zahid Hasan, Eugene Higgins Professor of Physics, Princeton University,
USA, was present as the chief Guest. BAS Secretary Prof Dr Haseena Khan also
attended it.
Renowned Agricultural Scientist of the country Dr Md Abdul Latif was born in
1965 in Chowkibari village of Dhanut upazila of the Bogra district.
He obtained his BSc (Ag) Hons degree in 1987 from the Bangladesh Agricultural
University. He completed his PhD degree on Molecular Biology in 2001 from the
University of Putra Malaysia.
Currently, he is one of the senior scientists in National Agricultural
Research System (NARS) in Bangladesh.
He served as a Post-doctoral researcher at the University of Putra Malaysia
from 2010 to January 2012 and as a senior research fellow from May 2012 to
2014 in the same University.
He has 174 research papers published in different prestigious journals home
and abroad.
