DHAKA, Nov 10, 2024 (BSS) - A discussion meeting marking the Shaheed Noor Hossain Day was held at Bijoy auditorium in Topkhana here today.
Natun Dhara Bangladesh (NDB) organised the discussion titled 'Freedom from Fascist and Bangladesh'.
NDB presidium members Freedom Fighter Abdul Mannan Azad and Lion Rasheda Begum, senior vice chairman Shanta Farzan, organizing secretary Wazed Rana, members Rubel Akandh, Shahanaj Sathi and Monowara Begum, among others, addressed the discussion with its chairman Momin Mehedi in the chair.
In the discussion, the speakers said Noor Hossain, Mugdha and others have sacrificed their lives to resist fascists. The students and commoners will not tolerate any more injustice, crime and corruption, they said.
The speakers expressed deep condemn for the harassment of Law Adviser Professor Dr Asif Nazrul in Geneva, Switzerland. They demanded exemplary punishment of those who were involved in such heinous act.
Earlier, the NDB leaders and activists paid glowing tribute to the portrait of Noor Hossain at Noor Hossain square in the city's Zero Point, Gulistan.
On this day in 1987, Noor Hossain, who imprinted his bare chest and back with the slogans "Free democracy" and "Down with Autocracy", embraced martyrdom in police firing during an anti-autocracy demonstration at Zero Point in the city, now known as Shaheed Noor Hossain Square.
