KHULNA, Nov 10, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Professor Mia Golam Parwar today said all democratic political parties should remain united to resist the defeated fascist forces upholding the spirit of August 5 revolution.
Fascist Sheikh Hasina was trying to create instability in the country by making various conspiracies after she fled the country, he said, adding that the fallen autocrat has been planning to return to power through a counter-revolution.
Parwar, who was also a former parliament member, made the remarks while addressing a view-exchange meeting with journalists at the Humayun Kabir Balu auditorium of Khulna Press Club (KPC).
"We will resist these evil forces based on national consensus in the spirit of August 5," he added.
The Jamaat leader said a search committee has already been formed for forming the Election Commission but before holding a free, fair, participatory and impartial election, reforms are needed in some important areas of the state.
"It is not possible to move forward without carrying out a fundamental reform in judiciary, administration and constitution, he added.
KPC convener Enamul Haque, member secretary Rafiul Islam Tutul, member of the central working committee and assistant secretary of Jamaat in Khulna region Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, regional team member master Shafiqul Alam, members of central majlis-e-sura and Khulna city unit Ameer Prof Mahfuzur Rahman and district unit Ameer Moulana Emran Hussain, city unit secretary general advocate Sheikh Zahangir Hossain Helal, and district unit secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, among others, were present.
Later, Parwar handed over Tk 300,000 to the KPC executive committee on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman for the development of the press club.
