Two AL, one Chhatra League leaders arrested over killing Nazmul during movement

DHAKA, Nov 11, 2024 (BSS) - Khilgaon Thana Police in separate raids arrested
two Awami League (AL) and a Chhatra League leaders from the city's Goran area
on Sunday night and early today on charges of killing Syed Nazmul Hasan
during anti-discrimination student movement in Banosree area.

The arrested were ward no 2 AL member Md Babul alias Kasai Babul (54),
Shantipur Unit AL general secretary Mohammad Azizul Haque Mukul (49) and
Paltan Thana Chhatra League former general secretary Fahad Ullah (40).

Khilgaon Thana police arrested Babul and Azizul from Goran at 11:15pm on
Sunday and Fahad from Goran's Shantipur area at 6:30am today, said a police
press release.

Police arrested them after being confirmed of their involvement in Nazmul
murder by analysing the CCTV footages of the spot.

Khilgaon Thana Police said, on July 19, 2024, thousands of students and the
people were peacefully protesting for quota reform on Road No. 1 of Banasree
G Block.

On that day, the victim, physiotherapy technician Nazmul (23), was going to
Banasree Raji Hospital from his home in Aftab Nagar.

At that time, leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated bodies
attacked the protesting anti-discrimination students and the people.

The attackers opened indiscriminately fire and hurled crude bombs at the
protesters.

Nazmul died on the spot after being shot in the chest and back.

The victim's relative Abdul Malek filed a murder case with Khilgaon Police
