DHAKA, Nov 12, 2024 (BSS) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) vice-chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo today demanded of the interim government immediate announcement of an election roadmap.
“The people want to see an elected government in the country so the interim government should arrange a free, fair and neutral election quickly,” he said while speaking at a discussion meeting as the chief guest at Jatiya Press Club.
National Democratic Party (NDP) organized the discussion meeting with its chairman KM Abu Taher in the chair. NDP Secretary General Abdullah-Al-Harun Sohel conducted it.
National People’s Party (NPP) chairman Advocate Fariduzzaman Farhad, former lawmaker Naser Rahman, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Advocate Dr. Md. Helal Uddin and Labour Party chairman Mustafizur Rahman Iran, spoke at the discussion, among others.
In his speech Mintoo said the countrymen want an elected government for removing all discriminations from the society.
“Reforms are a continuous process. Countrymen will not accept any delay in holding the election,” he said, adding that BNP does not want any anarchy in the country.
Students-people and different political parties, including BNP, ousted the Awami League (AL) government from power for building a discrimination free country, he added.
Other speakers demanded taking immediate steps to bring back corrupt leaders and workers of AL for trials and alleged that the cohorts of the fascist regime are still hatching conspiracies against the country and its people.
They also demanded immediate measures to improve the law and order situation and to reduce prices of essential goods. A vested quarter is still hatching conspiracies to destabilize the country’s garment sector for their own benefits, they added.
