Hasina, ex-SP sued over attempt to murder case in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Nov 12, 2024 (BSS)- A case was filed against ousted Prime Minister
(PM) Sheikh Hasina, former superintendent of police (SP) Kamal Hossain,
additional police super Md. Ibrahim and former officer-in-charge (OC) of
Sadar Thana Masud Rana on charges of attempting to murder a man during the
anti-discrimination students' movement in the district on August 4.

The victim, Ohedur Rahman, of Kisamat Holdia village under Sundarganj upazila
in the district, who received bullet injuries on August 4, filed the case
with the District and Sessions Judge Court here on Monday afternoon.

The case was filed against 10. Another 50-60 unidentified people were also
accused in the case.

According to the case statement, Ohedur, who participated in a procession
called by the anti-discrimination student movement on August 4, was shot
during an attack on protesters by the police in front of the SP office of the
town.

He received 9 bullets in his body and immediately was taken to Sadar Hospital
but a group of miscreants attacked and beat him mercilessly while ongoing
treatment there.

Later, he took treatment from a local doctor namely Tazul Islam at his
chamber here and the bullets were removed from his body.

There was a delay in filing the case due to the time taken to achieve
physical fitness, he mentioned.

The other main accused of the case are president of district Awami League Abu
Bakar Siddique, its general secretary Mozammel Haque Mondal, district Jubo
league president Sarder Sayeed Hasan Loton, its general secretary Shah Ahsan
Habib Razib, former president of district Chhatra league Asif Sarker and its
former general secretary Mosaddek Mamun.

After filing the case, the court directed the Police Bureau of Investigation
(PBI) to investigate.
