NOAKHALI, Nov 12, 2024 (BSS) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said it has been possible to defeat the fascist Sheikh Hasina due to uprising of the students-people across the country.
“What didn’t she do? She considered Bangladesh as her ancestral state and the people as her slave. So, she didn’t allow anyone who protested her wrongdoings to live in peace,” he told a public rally on Chowmuhani Railgate premises in the district.
BNP Vice-Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu inaugurated the rally, organized by the party’s Begumganj Upazila and Chowmuhani Municipality and local units of BNP’s associate bodies marking “National Revolution and Solidarity Day” on November 7.
During the Sheikh Hasina’s regime, Rizvi Ahmed said, many people became victims of enforced disappearances and killings and there was panic and agony among the people across the country.
He said Sheikh Hasina looted and laundered aboard huge amount of money of mega projects including power plants and metro-rail as well as share market but the people are suffering now for these wrongdoings.
About the commodity price, the BNP leader urged the interim government to take measures to break market syndicate for reducing prices of commodities.
He also called upon the government to hold national elections within the quickest possible time.
Rizvi said allies of autocrat are still holding different important positions in the country.
BNP’s Assistant Organizing Secretary (Chattogram Division) Barrister Mir Helal, Noakhali District BNP President Golam Haider, its General Secretary Advocate Abdur Rahman, members Advocate Abdur Rahim, ABM Zakaria and Shamima Barkat Lucky also spoke at the rally.
Begumganj Upzila BNP President Kamakhya Chandra Das presided over the rally, which was jointly conducted by its General Secretary Mahfuzul Haque Abed and Chowmuhani Municipality BNP General Secretary Mohsin Alam.
Later, families of martyrs and injured persons of the mass uprising were given financial assistance in the function.
