CID unearths mystery of teenage van driver murder, arrest 3

DHAKA, Nov 14, 2024 (BSS) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has made a breakthrough in the last years' clueless murder of the teenage van driver in Pabna district and captured three individuals from Savar, on the outskirts of the capital city and Sathia in Pabna, for suspected link to the heinous killing.
 
The arrested have been identifies as Md. Sagar Ali (25), the main perpetrator and his two accomplices Md. Tamal Sheikh (30) and Khokon Khan (40).

A team of CID in a raid at Savar arrested the trio on November 12 last in connection with the clueless murder of teenage van driver Raju (14) in Bera Thana area in Pabna district on February 28 in 2023, said a CID press release.

On the morning of February 2 in 2023, teenage van driver Raju left his house in Bera Thana area with his own van for rent. As Raju did not return home on that day, his family members started searching for him in various places.

The next day, his mother filed a general diary with Bera Police Station.

Police recovered the body of juvenile Raju in a bag on the banks of the Jamuna river adjacent to Baksohapara village under Bera police station on March 2 in 2023.

Raju's mother filed a murder case under Sections 34/201/302/379 of the Penal Code with Bera police station case the next day (on March 2, 2023).

After taking charge of the investigation into the case, CID, Pabna District, conducted a drive based on intelligence information and arrested the main accused Sagar Ali from Aminpur Bazar area under Savar police station on November 12, 2024. Sagar confessed his involvement in the murder.

Following information extracted from Sagar during interrogation, the CID later arrested his accomplices Tamal Sheikh and Khokon Khan from Santhia police station area of ??Pabna district.

Initial interrogation revealed that on February 2 in 2023, the accused killed Raju in the afternoon at Nagarbari Ghat, robbed his van and sold it at Tk 17,000.
