COX'S BAZAR, Nov 15, 2024 (BSS) - An Australian national died in a motorbike accident on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive road in the Inani Sonarpara area under Ukhiya upazila here last evening.

The deceased has been identified as Daniel Paul, 49, a resident of Sydney in Australia, Superintendent of Police of the district Mohammad Rahmat Ullah said.

When Daniel was driving a rented motorcycle on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive road, he hit a roadside tree after losing control over the steering around 6pm, leaving him dead on the spot, SP said.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for an autopsy, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ukhiya Police Station Mohammad Arif Hossain said.

Daniel Paul arrived in Cox's Bazar four days ago and he was staying in the Modern Resort in Kalatali area.

The Australian Embassy in Dhaka has been informed about his death, the OC added.
