Elected government needed to restore democracy: Hafiz Uddin

BHOLA, Nov 18, 2024 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram expressed hope that the interim government would arrange election shortly because an elected government is needed to restore democracy in the country.

“We hope the interim government would arrange national election shortly because the country needs an elected government to restore people’s voting right as well as democracy,” he said while speaking at a view exchange meeting with leaders and workers of Upazila, Union and college Chhatra Dal here last night.   

He said BNP has been struggling to restore people’s voting right and more than 2,000 BNP leaders and activists sacrificed their lives in the movements to restore democracy.

Convener of Upazila Chhatra Dal Md. Mamun presided over the meeting while convener of Upazila BNP Golam Mostofa Mintu, member secretary Omar Asad Rintu, former president of upazila unit BNP Mahibullah Nagor, upazila Chhatra Dal joint convener Md. Shahin Alam Ovi and Md. Humayun Ibrahim, among others, were present.
