DHAKA, Nov 19, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today underscored the need for bringing back people's voting rights at any cost.
"Ensuring accountability is needed for political emancipation. In this regard, people's voting rights should be restored. . .BNP will bring back people's voting rights at any cost," he said
Tarique Rahman was addressing virtually a workshop as the chief guest at Institution of Diploma Engineers in the capital Kakrail here.
BNP acting chairman urged the party men not to use "Desh Nayok" and "Rasthra Nayok" title with his name.
Noting that a conspiracy is going on somewhere in the country, he urged all to remain alert in this regard.
He also urged the party men to stay with people always to alert them about the conspiracy.
Tarique Rahman said Awami League became autocratic as it had no accountability. But BNP does politics for the people so that the main task of the party will be to ensure the accountability of elected public representatives, he mentioned.
He said if politics becomes sick, economy must be sick and when politics and economy become sick, education, security and all others become sick.
So, accountability of public representatives must be ensured, he said.
The BNP acting chairman said if anyone gives any better proposal apart from the BNP's 31-point reform proposals, it will be accepted. If BNP goes to power, it will work on the proposals, he added.
He urged the party men to bring back the culture of "Uthan Baithak" (yard meeting) to reach the BNP's 31-point reform proposals at the grassroots and it will also help reformation works of the country.
BNP's organizing secretary (Dhaka division) chaired the event.
