DHAKA, Nov 20, 2024 (BSS) - Acting Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Ekaterina Semenova today called on Agriculture Adviser Lt Gen Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) at latter’s secretariat office where they discussed about fertilizer, agricultural production and export .
Highlighting the longstanding relationships between Bangladesh and Russia, the envoy praised the country's progress in the agricultural sector.
She expressed her country’s interest to work intensively in Bangladesh’s agriculture sector, especially on the export of fertilizers.
Ekaterina Semenova offered to export various fertilizers produced in Russia, especially DAP (Diammonium phosphate) and Potash (Muriate of potash) fertilizers.
Initially, she made proposals to export up to 400,000 MT DAP and 30,000 MT Potash to Bangladesh.
The Agriculture Adviser welcomed the proposal to export fertilizers, saying Bangladesh is keen to import in the G2G system from the countries that supply high quality fertilizers at affordable prices in a short time.
He, however, made a call to the envoy to import various seasonal fruits from Bangladesh, especially jackfruit.
Agriculture secretary Dr Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian was also present.
