DHAKA, Nov 21, 2024 (BSS) – Bangladesh Navy today accorded a reception to the gallantry award winning valiant freedom fighters of Navy and awarded peacetime medals to the Navy personnel in recognition of their heroic courage in various fields.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan handed over the memento and peacetime medals to the recipients at a function in Sagarika Hall of Navy Headquarters marking the ‘Armed Forces Day-2024’, a release of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said here.

A total of 22 valiant freedom fighters and their beneficiaries were felicitated in the function. Besides, 77 navy personnel—40 in 2023 and 37 others in 2024-- were awarded peacetime medals in recognition of their heroic activities in different fields, it said.

Of the peacetime medal recipients, three are Navy Medal (NBP), 10 Extraordinary Service Medal (OSP), 10 Distinguished Service Medal (BSP), 14 Navy Glorious Service Medal (NGP), 20 Navy Medal of Excellence Medal (NUP) and 20 Navy Efficiency Medal (NPP).

In the reception, family members of five Bir Shreshtho including family members of Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Ruhul Amin, five Bir Uttam, eight Bir Bikrom and eight Bir Protik and their children, Principal Staff Officers and senior officials of Dhaka Naval region were present on the occasion, among others.
