Bangladesh embassy in Vietnam launches e-passport services

DHAKA, Nov 22, 2024 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi today officially
launched e-passport services, becoming the 48th mission to roll out this
facility.

The inauguration took place today in a modest ceremony attended by embassy
officials, a technical team led by the Deputy Director of the Department of
Immigration and Passports (DIP), and members of the Bangladeshi expatriate
community in Vietnam, according to a message received here.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Vietnam, Mohammad Lutfor Rahman, presided over the
event, marking a significant milestone for expatriate services.

Ahead of the launch, the technical team from the DIP provided necessary
training to embassy staff to ensure smooth operations.

During the ceremony, Deputy Director Al-Amin Mridha, who traveled from Dhaka,
explained the application process for e-passports to the attendees and
showcased a documentary on the government's e-passport project.

In his address, Ambassador Rahman extended his gratitude to the DIP technical
team and assured that the embassy is committed to delivering e-passport
services with utmost efficiency.

He highlighted that Bangladeshi nationals residing in Vietnam and Laos can
now apply for e-passports directly at the embassy.

The embassy also plans to accept e-passport applications during its consular
outreach programs in various cities across Vietnam and Laos.

Applicants will have the option to apply for five or ten-year validity
passports, with delivery expected within one month of application submission.

Following the inauguration, the ambassador handed over enrollment slips to
several applicants, marking the beginning of the service.

The initiative was well-received by the expatriate community, who expressed
their satisfaction and appreciation for the embassy's efforts.

The event was moderated by Nasir Uddin, Head of Chancery at the embassy.
