DHAKA, Nov 26, 2024 (BSS) - Six acres of forest land were recovered in Gazipur in a joint drive today.
As per the directives of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the joint drive was conducted in Kapilatoli Mouza under Rajendrapur East Beat of Gazipur's Sripur Upazila, a ministry press release said.
During the drive, 120 illegal structures, including newly built and under-construction buildings, were demolished. About six acres of forest land, with an estimated market value of around Taka 50 crore, were recovered from illegal occupation.
The drive was carried out under the supervision of the Gazipur District Administration and led by the Sripur Upazila Nirbahi Officer. The Army, RAB, Forest Department and Police assisted the drive.
Such drives will continue to protect forest, wildlife, and biodiversity, the press release also said.
