DHAKA, Nov 27, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today placed former Dhaka-7 lawmaker
Solaiman Salim on a total seven-day remand in two separate cases filed over
the killing of Rakib Hawlader and Khaled Hasan Saifullah during the recent
anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hossain passed the orders, placing
Solaiman on a four-day remand in Khaled killing case and another three-day
remand in the case lodged over Rakib murder.
A team of Chawkbazar Police Station arrested Solaiman Salim from the Gulshan
area on November 14.
Rakib Hawlader got shot as the Awami League and its front and associate
bodies fired live rounds and hurled crude bombs on the protesters during the
student-people movement at Chankharpool crossing in the morning on August 5.
The Awami League goons even stopped the people from rescuing Rakib and taking
him to the nearest hospital.
He was later rushed to Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital, where
the attending doctors declared him dead on arrival. His father Jahangir
Hossain filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station on September 23.
Khaled Hasan Saifullah was killed on July 18 while taking part in an anti-
discrimination rally in the Lalbagh Government Residential Colony area.
His father Kamrul Hasan on August 19 filed the case against 52 including ousted
prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
