DHAKA, Nov 27, 2024 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has given financial assistance of Taka 3 lakh each to families of five out of the 14 cops killed during July-August.
This financial assistance was handed over to the families of the deceased police members on November 26 last.
At the instructions of DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad Ali, senior DMP officers went to the houses of each of the deceased policemen to inquire their wellbeing and handed over the money, said a police press release.
While handing over the donation money, the DMP Commissioner personally spoke to the family members of the deceased over mobile phone.
At that time, he expressed deep condolences and sympathy to the family members and assured them of being by their side and providing maximum support in case of any need in the future.
A special welfare meeting was held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium at Rajarbagh Police Lines on Saturday morning under the chairmanship of DMP Commissioner.
In the welfare meeting, the DMP Commissioner announced financial assistance of three lakh taka from the DMP's own fund to each of the families of the 14 members of the DMP killed in July-August.
He also expressed his firm determination to personally meet the family members of the deceased and provide maximum support.
The families of the deceased police members who received financial assistance are: Police Inspector Md. Rashedul Islam, SI Khagendra Chandra Sarkar, ASI Firoz Hossain, Constable Khalilur Rahman and Constable Md. Shahidul Alam.
Financial assistance will also be handed over to the families of all other DMP police members who died in the line of duty as soon as possible.
