DHAKA, Nov 29, 2024 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan today urged all to remain united to fight against Awami fascism and its cohorts in the country.

The BNP leader was addressing as the chief guest at a discussion titled “What should do to face fascism and their cohorts”. Bangladesh Khilafat Andolon organized the discussion marking the 43rd anniversary of the party at Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here.
He said, "We have a responsibility to restore democracy in the country…We cannot dishonor the heroes, who embraced martyrdom during the student-led mass upsurge for democracy."
He said, "Our main responsibility is to hold a free and fair election for restoration of democracy…But the current government is making farce in the name of elections.”
In this connection, he said the responsibility of the interim government is to arrange a fair election, where the people's opinion will be reflected properly.
"From the language movement of 1952 to the anti-autocratic movement of 1990, the people of the country have shed a lot of blood...But, even after the country's independence, we have witnessed one-party rule, military dictatorship and the killing of democracy," he added.
