KHULNA, Dec 2, 2024 (BSS) - The Khulna city unit of the BNP brought out a jubilant procession celebrating the acquittal of the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman from the cases filed over August 21 grenade attack.

Hundreds of leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies, led by the central Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, joined the procession starting from the KD Ghosh Road area.

Later, a rally was held with BNP City Unit Convener Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona in the chair.

Conducted by BNP City Unit member Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, BNP central Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal addressed the rally as the chief guest.

The chief guest said BNP leaders and activists are hopeful that Tarique Rahman would return home soon as he was exempted from the grenade attack case.

The High Court on Sunday acquitted all accused, including Tarique Rahman, who were convicted by the lower court in two cases on 21 August grenade attack, 2004.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain gave the verdict, scrapping the lower court judgment in the two cases.
