DHAKA, Dec 02, 2024 (BSS)- Jatiya Nagorik Committee has announced series of programmes for the month of December with a six-point demand including unveiling all the treaties with India, ensuring fair share of water of the common rivers and bringing Sheikh Hasina to book.
The committee, formed to work towards fulfilling the goals of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, also demanded bringing down commodity prices at a tolerable level, taking effective steps to bring back the laundered money and ensuring trial of all the land grabbing incidents as well as each attack on communities including Hindus and Buddhist.
The month-long programme was announced at a press briefing at Nagorik Committee central office here in the capital after holding a day-long general meeting of it’s recently extended 107 member convening committee.
Nagorik committee convener Nasir Uddin Patwary, member secretary Akhter Hossain and spokesperson Samanta Sharmin addressed the press conference, among others.
Committees under the platform will be formed in each district and thana across the country within this month, they said.
Nagorik committee leader said an advisory committee will also be formed aimed at making communication with country’s respected senior citizens and taking their advices.
Month long programmes of Nagorik committee also include holding ‘Sramik Rally’ from December 6 to 9 in different places including Basila, Rajendrapur, Joydevpur, Kashimpur, Savar, Ashulia, Baipail and Uttara and arranging programmes across the country marking International Human Rights Day on December 10.
As part of the central program, a protest rally will be held at the Central Shaheed Minar demanding justice for all human rights violations including disappearances, murders, cross-fires and rapes committed by the fascist Awami League in the last 15 years, they said in the briefing.
In addition, they announced to hold programmes on December 14 marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day at Rayerbazar Cemetery and bring out a Victory Rally in the city on December 16 marking the Victory Day.
Citing the white paper on Bangladesh economy, Nagorik committee leaders urged the government to form a special task force to bring back the huge amount of laundered money to the country.
