DHAKA, Dec 02, 2024 (BSS)- Students of Dhaka University protested the attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India today.
Leaders and workers of Anti Discrimination student movement and Inqilab Mancha brought out a protest procession from Hall Para area around 9:30 pm which was ended at the Raju Memorial Sculpture with a short rally, after parading key points of the campus.
Addressing the rally, student leaders demanded an official apology from India over the incident saying, “a civilized country can never carry out such attack in the diplomatic mission. India must formally apologize to Bangladesh for this.”
"We have one identity, we are Bangladeshis. We are united in protecting the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh," said Joy Pal, a student of Dhaka University.
Coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement Mahin Sarkar said, “We want to tell India that the Awami League is no longer in power. So they should not try to dominate like a ruling party as they did before.”
“We fought against British rule, we fought against Pakistan's discriminatory policy. We are ready to fight again for the country. We will not accept Indian domination until we have a drop of blood in our body,” he added.
Earlier, Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, called for the demonstration in a post on his verified Facebook profile this evening.
The attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission took place this noon as thousands of people took out a massive rally in the Tripura capital to protest the arrest of ISCKON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das.
