DHAKA, Dec 03, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 120 leaders and activists of BNP, including its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, were exempted of the charges in two cases filed with the capital's Shahbagh and Ramna Police Stations.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the orders recently, accepting final reports filed by the police in the two cases.
Confirming the report to BSS, sub-inspector Jinnat Ali of general registration wing of the court said 37 people, including Mirza Fakhrul, were sued in the case filed with the Shahbagh Police Station, while 83 people were implicated in the Ramna Model Police Station case.
Sub-inspector Md Motiur Rahman filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station on November 26, 2019, for obstructing police in conducting their duties and attempting to murder law enforcing officials. Police after probing the case filed final report on October 28.
The other prominent accused, who were exempted of the charges in the case are- Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Mirza Abbas, Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and Barrister Kaiser Kamal.
Police filed the other case on October 28, 2023, for launching attack on the Chief Justice's residence. Detective branch (DB) of police on October 28 filed final report in this case.
The prominent accused, who were exempted of the charges in the case are- Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Barkat Ullah Bulu and Abdul Awal Mintoo.
