DHAKA, Dec 3, 2024 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad Ali today called upon the people to help police in maintaining the law and order and controlling crimes.
"The inhabitants of Mohammadpur had realized the impact of inactiveness of police as they did not sleep for nights after August 5 (changeover). So, help police to maintain the law and order and check crimes," he said.
He was addressing a view-exchange meeting with the student-people and eminent citizens residing in Mohammadpur Thana areas at Suchona Community Centre, Mohammadpur here.
Mentioning that the main task of police is to ensure security, the commissioner said, "So, we have to ensure security giving utmost priority."
Sazzad said they have been monitoring the activities of the gangs of extortionists of footpaths.
"Legal action would be taken against the extortionists," he said.
The DMP Commissioner has sounded the note of warning against illegal drugs trading, saying, "Drug traders would not be spared."
He requested the political parties to hold rallies at specific places instead of roads to reduce public sufferings.
"All including the political leadership should come forward to build the state," he said.
High officials of the DMP were present at the meeting.
