NARAYANGANJ, Dec 3, 2024 - (BSS) - Advisor of the Shipping Ministry Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain today said some Indian media and political parties are trying to create communal unrest to get votes.
“I won't say India . . . but some Indian media are trying to create communal unrest in Bangladesh”, Sakhawat, also Adviser of the Ministry of Labor and Employment said.
The adviser came up with the remark, replying to a query of journalists after visiting the Launchghat Multipurpose Jetty of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) under BRWTP-1 project in Narayanganj this afternoon.
Sakhawat Hussain said if India tries to create communal unrest in Bangladesh, they (India) would not be able to stay well as some 18 crore people of Bangladesh must not sit silently.
“If Bangladesh remains unstable, then I don’t think that they (Indian people) would live well. We think that the Indian government will take forward the existing bilateral ties between the two countries,” he added.
The shipping adviser hoped that bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India will be strengthened the existing relation based on equality in days to come.
About river pollution, he also said the Shipping Ministry will provide all kinds of cooperation to the Ministry of Environment to prevent pollution of all rivers in the country including the Shitalakshya River.
Effective measures will be taken soon to prevent river encroachment through the River Protection Commission, the adviser added.
