Bangladeshis have no enmity with Indian people: Rizvi

DHAKA, Dec 3, 2024 (BSS) - BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said continuous propaganda is being carried out against Bangladesh from Indian soil when Bangladeshis have no enmity against Indian people.

"Bangladesh people have no enmity with Indian people. But continuous propaganda is being carried out against Bangladesh under patronage of India," he told a press conference at party's Nayapaltan central office here.

Rizvi said India has become desperate to create instability inside Bangladesh by "pouring out nonsense speeches" about Bangladesh.

India, he said, has systematically brought down a cold wave of terror and panic on the state and society of Bangladesh.

The BNP leader said India wants to launch "a far-reaching aggression by burning everything in Bangladesh fueling fire of communalism and destroying people, culture and civilization".

Rizvi said that Bangladesh has become agitated against the attacks on Bangladesh Assistant High Commissions in Agartala and Kolkata, chaos in front of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Mumbai, and the continuous extremely provocative statements and limitless propaganda against the country.

He said such an unprecedented attack on a diplomatic mission in Agartala is a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961.

Under the circumstances, the Bangladesh government should seek the help of the UN peacekeeping force for ensuring safety of Bangladesh mission officials in India.

The BNP leader said BJP has turned India into a religious extremist state but Bangladesh is not a religious extremist state like India.

Rizvi said numerous atrocities against minority communities are taking place in India every day but the country has no regret about these.

The world, he said, knows that Hindutvadi India is a breeding ground of minority oppression.

"India is the world's number one racist country. In that country, Muslim citizens have been subjected to various atrocities and torture for years.

"The US human rights report also revealed that the rights of religious minorities are being violated (in India). Overall, Muslims there, as a religious community, are constantly being subjected to various persecutions."

"The international human rights organization Human Rights Watch said that 63 percent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speeches before the last Lok Sabha elections in India were hate speech. Out of 173 (63 percent) speeches, Modi made comments on 'Islamophobia'."

He called upon international human rights organizations to investigate the states in India where minorities are being persecuted and take strict action against those responsible.

"I would like to tell Modi and Mamata to take care of their respective houses. Look after yourselves. We are people of all communities living in peace," Rizvi said.
