DHAKA, Dec 4, 2024 (BSS) - Police Women Welfare Association (PUNAK) President Afroza Helen today visited the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital (NIOH) in the capital city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar to see those injured during the anti-discrimination student-people movement.
During the visit, she inquired about their treatment and wellbeing and spoke to the doctors on duty about their physical condition.
The PUNAK President thanked the doctors for providing advanced medical care to the injured with sincerity.
Afroza Helen recalled the great role of the injured people during the student-people movement.
"They have created immense possibilities and opportunities for us to build a new Bangladesh. Now our responsibility is to build the country together," she said.
She said that PUNAK, an organization of women members of the police family, has been conducting welfare and social development activities for the helpless people beyond its own territory.
PUNAK Vice President Rahela Sultana and Irin Rahman and NIOH director Professor Dr. Khair Ahmed Chowdhury, student representative Md. Rubaiyat Raj, among others, were present.
