Training workshop for AFD members on 'Gender Bias' held

DHAKA, Dec 4, 2024(BSS) - A training workshop on 'Gender Bias' was held today in a city hotel with the aim of increasing awareness among the Bangladesh Armed Forces Division (AFD), which would enable the forces to play a greater role in maintaining gender equality.

Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hassan was present as the chief guest.

Bangladesh Armed Forces Division (AFD), Bangladesh Peace Support Operations Training (BIPSOT) and Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance jointly organized the workshop, said a release of Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) this evening.

The chief guest distributed certificates among the participants of the workshop, where a total of 30 officers from the armed forces division took part.

Bangladesh Military has added a new dimension to women empowerment by recruiting women as peacekeepers in the unstable security situation of peacekeeping missions, the release reads.

It said the UN Women and the Bangladesh Armed Forces Division are working together to further increase the opportunities for women members' participation in the UN peacekeeping missions abroad and to remove all sorts of barriers.

The current training curriculum of Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT) can be further enriched through the feedback received from the said training workshop, the ISPR added.
