CHATTOGRAM, Dec 4, 2024 (BSS) - Attorney General (AG) Mohammad Asaduzzaman said a vested quarter, influenced by a special group along with a particular country are carrying out propaganda to destroy communal harmony in the country.
“But the nation has united again following sacrifice of the martyr lawyer Saiful Islam Alif. If we are united in this way, all conspiracies will be foiled,” he added.
The Attorney General said these while exchanging views with the journalists at the Chattogram Press Club on Wednesday evening.
AG Mohammad Asaduzzaman said, "I do not deny that false cases are being filed on various pretexts."
However, this case is not being filed by the state or police like the previous fascist government.
“Rather, the government has decided that filling of a case does not mean the arrest. The real criminals will be caught after investigation and verification. We have kept the door of justice open for everyone,” he added.
Asaduzzaman said, whether a journalist or anyone else is involved in genocide and crimes against humanity will be tried according to the law.
“It is important to remember that the hands of journalists are long, but the hands of the law also longer and even the hands of the state are much longer,” he said.
Regarding the killing of advocate Saiful Islam Alif in the ISKCON attack and the arrest of Sanatani Jagran Mancha leader Chinmoy Brahmachari, Mohammad Asaduzzaman said, he is involved in a big conspiracy.
“Since the allegation is serious, action will be taken subject to investigation,” he added.
Asaduzzaman told journalists the state has taken the highest measures to ensure justice for the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif.
“We have talked to the administration; we are taking all required measures. Bangladesh Bar Council will standby Saiful's family,” he added.
Terming lawyer Saiful Islam Alif as their brother, the AG said 70,000 lawyers in Bangladesh are members of their family and Bangladesh Bar Council is deeply saddened and shocked at the loss of that family .
