DHAKA, Dec 5, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today sent to jail Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad (SWACHIP), an organization of pro-Awami League doctors in the country, president Dr Md Jamal Uddin Chowdhury, to jail in an attempt to murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hossain passed the order as police produced Chowdhury before the court and pleaded to keep him behind the bars till the end of probe in the case.

Dr Md Jamal Uddin Chowdhury was shown arrested in the case on December 4.

According to the case documents, Zakaria Yasin, 11, was serving water to Anti-Discrimination Movement activists in front of his Bhatara house with his mother on July 23. Awami League goons along with policemen suddenly arrived at the place and started firing on them. One bullet hit Yasin on his left leg.

Yasin's mother on October 2 filed the case with Bhatara Police Station.
