DHAKA, Dec 8, 2024 (BSS) - The 5th Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting
of the 'Dhaka Road Traffic Safety Project (DRSP)' was held today, said a
police press release.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Japan International Cooperation Agency
(JICA) jointly organized the meeting at the conference room of DMP
Headquarters here.
The DRSP has been implemented by DMP in Dhaka Metropolitan Area since March
2022 with the support of JICA.
In the meeting, the DRSP said they have trained 60 DMP officers under four
Training of Trainers (ToT) courses under the Public Participation Education
Program (PPEP).
The DRSP is taking a plan to implement PPEP in a total of 50 schools under
eight traffic divisions.
As part of the plan, the DRSP are organizing DMP Road Safety Poster and
Slogan Competition and Traffic Week.
Moreover, under DRSP, to increase the capacity of DMP to prevent traffic
accidents, the "Database and Analysis of Road Crash (DARC)" app has been
launched to collect and analyze accident reports.
Apart from these, the "Responding Officer Observation Form (ROOF)" has been
launched to collect information.
Several pilot projects have already been planned to increase awareness among
pedestrians and encourage public involvement in the safety system.
A total of 42 people, including officers from different levels of DMP, have
already received training in two training sessions in Japan and one in
Hyderabad, India under DRSP.
Moreover, a media fellowship program has already been organized for
journalists to promote road safety in Dhaka.

the meeting.

Advisor of DRSP, spoke on the occasion as a representative of JICA,
Bangladesh.
