DHAKA, Dec 8, 2024 (BSS) - As part of the nationwide campaign of the 31-point outline for repairing the state structure formulated by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to establish democracy, equality, human dignity and social justice, a delegation of the party exchanged views with journalists of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
A seven-member delegation led by BNP Central Executive Committee member and former General Secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Md Akramul Hasan exchanged views with BSS journalists at its head office at Purana Paltan here this afternoon.
BSS Managing Director and Chief Editor Mahbub Morshed and other journalists of the news agency were present during the view-exchange.
Mahbub Morshed, also a poet and litterateur, thanked BNP's acting Chairman Tarique Rahman for taking the initiative to inform the countrymen about the 31-point state reform proposals aimed at democratic reform of the constitution and state structure.
He said the BNP's 31-point is a time-befitting outline to return the rights and ownership of the state to the people.
"We know that this outline was formulated long before the fall of the autocratic Sheikh Hasina's regime on August 5," said Mahbub Morshed.
He suggested including the recognition and dignity of the glorious contributions of the martyrs and injured to the July-August revolution in the outline.
During the meeting, BNP central leader Md. Akramul Hasan said the party's acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has given directives to convey the 31-point outline, which was announced by BNP on July 13 in 2023, to everyone.
He said the fascist Awami League regime was overthrown through the mass uprising of the students and the masses in July-August.
Akramul Hasan said Sheikh Hasina fled the country and took shelter in India. But before being ousted, she destroyed the basic structure of all state institutions in Bangladesh, he said, adding that therefore, there is no alternative to repairing and rebuilding this destroyed state structure in the light of the 31 points.
He said Tarique Rahman has called upon the BNP leaders and workers from all walks of life to ensure victory in the national elections by highlighting the importance of the 31 points in the democratic reform of the state before the nation and winning the love and hearts of the common people.
"Therefore, we have come to BSS today as part of conveying that message of the acting chairman of the party to the common people," he said.
After the views-exchange meeting, the BNP delegation distributed booklets and leaflets containing the 31 points among BSS journalists.
The delegation included Ashrafur Rahman Babu, Moniruzzan Rezin, Shoaib Khandaker, Kamal Khan, Sajjad Hossain Ujjal and Bayezid Arefin.
