DHAKA, Dec 08, 2024 (BSS)- Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shfiqul Alam today said there is no shortage of edible oil in the market and the intern government has taken steps to ensure adequate supply of the oil during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
“We do not think that there is any crisis of soybean oil in the country. There is enough stock of soybean oil in the market,” he told a press briefing at Foreign Service Academy here this evening.
Alam said the government held meeting with importers of edible oil and has taken steps for opening of letters of credit (LCs) in banks for import.
The government is monitoring its price intensively in the international market to avert any shortage in the supply line of edible oil in the country during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan and allowing people to buy it at fair price.
“We have optimum efforts so that the people of Bangladesh can avail soybean and palm oil at reasonable price during Ramadan,” he added.
Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretaries Apurba Jahangir and Abul Kalam Azad Majumder were present.
