DHAKA, Dec 12, 2024 (BSS) - Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs (CHT) Adviser Supradip Chakma today put emphasis on the innovative knowledge based education system to bring dynamism in the society as he spoke at a function on “International Hill Day-2024” here.
“By adapting environment and maintaining its balance, we have to attain quality expertise at our own quality, skills and empowerment along with innovative power, the adviser said.
He was speaking at the discussion as the chief guest at the Chittagong Hill Tracts Complex Seminar Hall in capital’s Bailey Road area marking the ‘International Hill Day-2024’.
Supradip Chakma said innovative education systems are very necessary to move towards a sustainable future as through quality education, the people of the hilly region should harmonize their thinking with the world’s modern people.
Referring to the need for modernizing the hilly nature and environment, he said, "The environment must be used properly to maintain natural balance. Bamboo is a very effective element in protecting the environment. It should be seen whether bamboo can be recognized as an agricultural resource or not."
He advised all concerned to be more careful in conserving and using the water of Kaptai Lake.
“We need to find more innovative processes to retain and use of water of the rivers, canals and streams in the right way,” he added, stressing on creating mass-awareness to protect the environment.
CHT affairs secretary AKM Shamimul Haque Siddiqui presided over the discussion.
Among others, Chairman of the Taskforce on Repatriation and Rehabilitation of Tribal Refugees Returning to India Senior Secretary Sudatta Chakma, ministry’s additional secretaries - M Aminul Islam and Pradip Kumar Mahottam, CHT Development Board Vice-Chairman Ripon Chakma, Khagrachhari Hill Tracts District Council Chairman Jiruna Tripura, Rangamati Hill Tracts District Council Chairman Kajal Talukder, Bandarban District Council Chairman Professor Thanjama Lusai.
Earlier, advisor Supradip Chakma inaugurated the museum and collection centre on the 5th floor of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Complex building here.
