DHAKA, Dec 14, 2024 (BSS) – Police have arrested five Awami League (AL) leaders and activists in separate raids in the capital city’s Pallabi and Mirpur areas for their alleged involvement in the attack on anti-discrimination student movement in Pallabi.
The arrested are Pallabi Thana AL joint convener Md Mamun (35), 6 no ward Jubo League leader Md Saju (34), 5 no ward AL relief secretary Md Saikat Islam (19), activists Md Bachchu Bepari (60) and Raju (52).
Pallabi Thana police in separate raids arrested the five with the help of CCTV footage analysis, intelligence information and technology from Adarsh Nagar area of Pallabi and Mirpur-11 areas on Friday night, said a police press release.
They were arrested in two separate cases, one for killing Akram Khan Rabbi in front of Mirpur-10 Abul Taleb School on July 19 last and another for injuring Abid seriously in front of Popular-2 Diagnostic Center at the Mirpur-10 on August 4 last.
The detainees along with others opened indiscriminate fires in two separate rallies supporting the anti-discrimination student movement in which Rabbi was shot dead while Abid suffered serious bullet wounds in his right eye.
Two separate cases were lodged with Pallabi Model Police Station in these connections.
